Ask the dietitian: is it fine to skip breakfast?

Reader question

I am not hungry in the morning. Will skipping breakfast harm me?

The answer

There is no single right pattern. What matters is the quality of your day's food. If you skip breakfast and then eat biscuits at 11, you are worse off.

If you skip breakfast, avoid making up for it with sweet biscuits. A handful of nuts or a banana mid-morning is better.

People with diabetes or on certain medicines should not skip meals without advice from their doctor.

This is a demo story: every name, place, organisation and figure in it is fictional.
